Following a hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026, When We Were Young is heading back on the road this September for a seven-date Scottish tour.
Presented by Geez a Break Productions, the multi-award-winning play takes audiences back to 1990s Glasgow, following a group of young people caught up in the city’s notorious “young team” culture. Mixing sharp Glaswegian humour with a much darker story underneath, the production explores gang violence, poverty, friendship and the loss of young lives behind the stereotypes.
After its Fringe run at theSpace on the Mile, the production will swap Edinburgh’s intimate Fringe setting for theatres across Scotland, beginning at Glasgow’s Pavilion Theatre on 12 September.
The tour then visits ;
East Kilbride Arts Centre (17–18 September),
Cumbernauld Theatre at Lanternhouse (19 September),
Harbour Arts Centre (20 September),
Theatre Royal Dumfries (23 September),
Rutherglen Town Hall (25 September)
before finishing with a homecoming performance at Airdrie Town Hall on 27 September.
For a production rooted so firmly in working-class Scottish voices, the September tour gives When We Were Young another opportunity to take its story directly to communities across the country.
If its Edinburgh reception is anything to go by, audiences may want to get their tickets sooner rather than later.
